- In 2020 joined the Palmetto Boat Sales family as a Salesman.
- Former Chairman of the Greater Charleston Young Republicans.
- Appointed in 2022 to the Mt. Pleasant Planning Commission.
- Elected Vice Chair of the Planning Commission in 2024.
- The ONLY Planning Commission member to move to DENY a Planned Development, which could have developed a legally held SCDNR Conservation Easement.
- The ONLY Planning Commission member to move to DENY a Planned Development, which could have resulted in a 1% sales tax increase throughout Mt. Pleasant.
Priorities

Garrett’s upbringing in Brickyard Plantation and his current residence in Old Mt. Pleasant make him uniquely connected to the heart of the community. This personal experience enables him to grasp the diverse concerns of Mt. Pleasant residents, from the historical areas like Bay View to the growing neighborhoods such as Carolina Park. Garrett’s commitment to unifying the entire community and his focus on addressing the specific needs of each area show his dedication to fostering inclusivity, ensuring that all residents have a voice in the decisions that impact their lives.
Smart Growth
Serving as the Vice Chair of Mt. Pleasant’s Planning Commission, Garrett has gained invaluable firsthand experience in future planning, zoning, and development. This role has equipped him with a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding the town’s growth. As Mt. Pleasant continues to experience rapid expansion, Garrett will ensure that future redevelopment is approached with thoughtful consideration and careful planning. With the community bursting at the seams, he is prepared to advocate for responsible development that balances growth with preserving the town’s character and quality of life.
Taxes and Economic Development
Mt. Pleasant is undoubtedly a vibrant and dynamic community, offering an exceptional quality of life for its residents. With a growing and diverse economy, the town is poised for continued success. As a small business owner, Garrett brings a unique perspective to fostering economic development, with a clear focus on supporting local businesses and creating job opportunities. His commitment to ensuring that residents are not burdened by tax increases highlights his dedication to maintaining Mt. Pleasant's prosperity while preserving its affordability. Garrett will continue to advocate for policies that do not burden residents and strengthen the local economy, all while keeping the financial well-being of residents at the forefront.
Environmental Preservation
As the owner of a small business dedicated to the conservation, promotion, and protection of natural resources, Garrett is more invested in their preservation than most. His expertise is further highlighted by his past recommendation by the Governor of South Carolina to serve on the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council. An active member of numerous conservation organizations, Garrett is deeply committed to the protection of green space, tree preservation, and the overall stewardship of natural resources. He is the ideal choice to advocate for a sustainable future for Mt. Pleasant’s environment.
Infrastructure
Having personally witnessed the rapid growth of Mt. Pleasant, Garrett is committed to addressing both existing and emerging traffic concerns. He understands the impact congestion and infrastructure challenges have on residents’ daily lives. Garrett is focused on collaborating not only with town staff and council, but also with neighboring municipalities and state agencies to find the most effective, long-term solutions that benefit all residents. His goal is to ensure that Mt. Pleasant’s growth is matched by a transportation system that is safe, efficient, and sustainable for everyone.
